Vahora Voice UK (VVUK) and its associates proudly hosted a landmark Book Launch and Youth & Community Recognition Event at the 3D Centre, Bolton.
The evening witnessed the unveiling of two significant books: British Gujarati Muslim Communities – Early Settlers: History and Heritage by Imtiaz Patel Varediawala (Alias Tankarvi), and The Family/Social System of Islam by Moulana Muhammed Iqbalsaheb Tankarvi.
Described by participants as both “historic and memorable,” the gathering brought together the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, alongside scholars, writers, educators, entrepreneurs, community leaders, councillors, and young creatives.
It was an occasion that celebrated heritage, faith, and the multifaceted achievements of the British Indian Gujarati Muslim community.
Moulana Muhammad Iqbal Sahib Tankarvi, an author and Islamic scholar, emphasised the enduring relevance of faith-based family and social systems.
“The Islamic social and family system is not merely a theoretical framework but a living practice that promotes harmony, dignity, and responsibility. In a rapidly changing world, these values remain timeless and universally relevant.”
Moulana Muhammedsaheb Rokad, fellow Islamic scholar, “echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of grounding contemporary life in enduring spiritual and moral principles.”
Samantha Vickers, educationist and advocate for intercultural learning, underscored the academic importance of documenting migration histories: “Documenting such histories is crucial not only for younger generations to recognise their roots but also for wider society to appreciate the contributions of diverse communities to Britain’s cultural fabric.”
Adamsaheb Tankarvi, writer and cultural commentator, “praised the works as part of a wider intellectual and educational legacy that strengthens cultural identity, heritage preservation, and intergenerational understanding.”
Entrepreneur Yousufbhai Bhilok reflected on the event’s inspirational impact on younger generations, “As someone engaged in business and innovation, I see parallels between entrepreneurship and community-building. Both require vision, perseverance, and pride in one’s roots. This event demonstrates that our heritage is not a limitation but a foundation for growth, creativity, and leadership.”
Young creative artist and poet, Imtiaz Fansiwala, “brought a literary and artistic voice to the gathering. “Art, literature, and history are deeply connected. As a young creative, I find inspiration in the struggles and resilience of earlier generations.”
Saeedbhai Manubari, Chair of BV UK, “encapsulated the spirit of the evening. “This is the best way to pay tribute to our early settlers. Early settlers do matter, and their struggles and sacrifices must always be remembered.”
Following the book launches, the Youth and Community Recognition Awards were presented to honour individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of education, business, social welfare, and the creative industries.
The awards segment created an atmosphere of pride, unity, and intergenerational dialogue, where the sacrifices of the early settlers were celebrated alongside the aspirations and achievements of the younger generation.
