Councillors Faisal Rana, his wife Iram Faisal and colleague Amber Nisa, are thanking all the many hundreds of people who cast their votes in favour of the Labour candidates in the Spotland & Falinge Ward.
The election of the three candidates on Thursday 5th May helped the ruling party at the town hall remain the largest Labour group in the borough with 42 Councillors.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Spotland and Falinge residents who took the time to support me, Iram Faisal and Amber Nisa as Labour candidates during the election process and for your vote on Election Day.
We are honoured to be given this opportunity to serve as your representatives on Rochdale Borough Council. It means a lot to each one of us. We appreciate your confidence in us to do what’s in the best interest of our area.
Councillor Faisal Rana said: I am particularly fulfilled because you did not let an unwarranted smear campaign against me cloud your judgement. I will forever be very grateful. I will now be looking forward to working with all members of the community. I want to ensure open communication, transparency, and accountability.
Councillor Iram Faisal Said: I am extremely humbled that the residents of Spotland and Falinge have once again put their trust in me to represent them for the next 4 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year as Councillor and hope to achieve more in the future. All three of us are committed to ensuring that Spotland and Falinge Ward continues to build on the tradition of excellence and community that are always so heartening”.
Councillor Amber Nisa “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you, the residents of Spotland and Falinge for electing me alongside Councillor Iram Faisal and Councillor Faisal Rana. You have showed me a great deal of kindness and I have thoroughly enjoyed speaking so many of you during the last few months. Thank you for putting your trust in me, I am truly honoured to be representing you at Rochdale Borough Council”.
We are all looking forward to getting started again on enhancing the area and fighting for you and listening to your concerns.
As a result, we will be upholding our promise to work on resident parking permits on streets near the Spotland stadium. Indeed, you can expect a consultation on resident parking to start soon.
In addition, we promised to bring traffic calming measures into various parts of the ward. We will now set about obtaining funding for this. In addition, we are advocating and campaigning for more police neighbourhood speed gun sessions in the ward.
Litter is also a problem of which we are aware. And we will be doing everything in our power to reduce the unsightly problem as well as fly tipping in the area.
As Councillors, we see our primary role as representing our ward and all the people who live in it. We are there to serve as a bridge between the community and the council.
So if you have any issues that you want to bring to our attentions please do not hesitate to make contact. You are of course always welcome at one of our surgeries, which will be held every Wednesday at 11am in Spotland Community Centre.
