Record-Breaking Turnout at Bramhope 10K Raises Over £5,000 for Charities

Bramhope, West Yorkshire – A record-breaking crowd gathered for what became the largest and most spirited Bramhope 10K event the village has ever witnessed. Over 115 runners took part in this year’s race, raising more than £5,000 for several charitable causes, including The Candlelighters Trust, RNIB, and the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA).
The day was blessed with glorious weather and a warm, community driven atmosphere. The village came alive with energy, laughter, and encouragement as residents, volunteers, and participants came together to make the event a huge success. The event was hosted in collaboration with West Park Rugby Club, whose excellent facilities and unwavering support helped ensure everything ran seam-lessly.
One of the highlights of the day was the heartwarming children’s fun run. What began with just 17 children registered the day before quickly grew to 35 enthusiastic young runners on the morning it-self. Children took on either a 1K or one-mile course with infectious excitement—some even wishing to continue beyond the finish line. Due to an unforeseen delay in medal deliveries, last-minute efforts saw medals sourced locally to ensure nearly every child went home with a well earned token of achievement.
The main 10K event saw more than 80 adult participants take to the roads, including five runners who travelled from Bradford to proudly represent the Imran Khan Cancer Appeal. The spirit of gener-osity and dedication was evident throughout, with special thanks extended to all those who donat-ed, supported, or cheered from the sidelines. Notably, £500 of the funds raised will directly benefit IKCA’s life-saving initiatives.
The organiser Tariq Qadeer, who has been passionately coordinating this event for the past six years, shared emotional reflections on the day:
“It has been my dream since the beginning to see 100 people take part in the Bramhope run. Despite personal challenges that could have derailed everything, we exceeded that number this year. To wit-ness over 115 runners coming together for such good causes was incredibly emotional and fulfilling. I am deeply grateful to Almighty Allah SWT for the beautiful weather, and to every single person who helped make this dream a reality.”
Special acknowledgements were extended to Manning Stainton for their sponsorship, to Caroline Dixon for generously donating £300 for children’s goodie bags, and to Andy Taylor, who selflessly tested the course multiple times to ensure accurate distance measurement.
As the medals were handed out and runners celebrated with their supporters, it became clear that the Bramhope 10K has evolved into much more than a race. It is now a symbol of community strength, perseverance, and the shared belief in supporting meaningful causes.
With such an incredible turnout and overwhelming community backing, plans for next year are al-ready beginning to take shape, fired by the dream that each year, more lives can be touched through this special village event.
