Household Support Fund reopens for applications

Household Support Fund reopens for applications

Applications have opened once again for the Household Support Fund in Blackburn with Darwen.
The Council has delivered the government’s Household Support Fund in Blackburn with Darwen since October 2021, in partnership with local voluntary, community and faith sector partner organisations. Working together, they help the people who need it most to access this vital support.
Help is available for things like fuel payments, food parcels, home insulation and items such as fridges, cookers and beds that may need replacing.
You can apply to Blackburn with Darwen Council for help through the Household Support Fund if you live in the borough, even if you are in full or part-time work – and you don’t have to be claiming any benefits to be eligible.
These are the criteria you need to meet to be eligible for the Household Support Fund:
• Single adult in work: Your household income must be below £26,057 (before tax and National Insurance)
• Two or more adults in work: Your household income must be below £38,870 (before tax and National Insurance)
• Your household savings must be under £2,000
• If you’re a pensioner, you can have savings up to £16,000.
Apply to the Household Support Fund via the Council’s website.
There are some additional eligibility criteria listed on the website.
Once the Council receives your application to the Household Support Fund, you will be referred on to the most relevant partner organisation. They will then contact you and talk you through what support may be available to you.
Councillor Phil Riley, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:
“Despite six rounds of the Household Support Fund since 2021, people are still struggling with rising living costs. This is why it’s vital that residents are still able to apply for this support.
In addition to funding for a variety of things, residents can also access financial advice to help them with reducing their household outgoings and improving their income.
Anyone living in Blackburn with Darwen can apply and although there are some eligibility criteria to meet, we’re keen to remind people that the Household Support Fund is open to applications from people who are in work, as well as those who are not.
While Household Support Fund applications are made online, we know that not everyone is online. Not wanting to exclude anyone from being able to apply to the Household Support Fund, our local partners can support residents to make an application, including Age UK and Care Network – all you have to do is ask. We are also asking people to help out any family or friends who might be eligible for this vital support with their online application if they need it”.
Blackburn with Darwen residents can also find lots more information about help available on the cost of living support webpage.
This includes local voluntary organisations and charities as well as national schemes.
